Celebrate Scottsdale this May with a very special ArtWalkArtWalk

The Scottsdale Gallery Association will hold a special Celebrate Scottsdale ArtWalk as one of that City’s 60th birthday party events. Thursday evening of May 12 has been announced for the occasion, which will feature live music on the streets and gallery spotlights on local artists.

Several special attractions are planned for the streets of downtown. Scottsdale poet laureate Bob Frost will be reading from his works, the Singing Cowboy Gary Sprague will be astride his trusty steed Dusty, and Royce Manuel will visit from the Salt River-Pima Community with his original Talking Stick, which is a tribal “history” in indigenous art form. Among the other musical treats will be Wildfire featuring Greg Ansel, classic rock blue-grass from The Blue Goats, as well as folk guitarist John Calvert.

Also, adding a nice flavor of the good ol’ days, the friendly folks from Main Street’s Cedar Mill will be giving out free tastes of a new sasparilla they’ve brewed up just to celebrate Scottsdale’s anniversary. In addition to the free samples, you can purchase a souvenir bottle of the elixir and help benefit art education coffers.

Held every Thursday from 7 to 9 pm, world-famous Scottsdale ArtWalk is in its 36th year as a Scottsdale Signature Event. “America’s Original ArtWalk” is located in the Scottsdale Arts District, which features dozens of fine art galleries just west of Scottsdale Road along Main Street and on
Marshall Way north of Indian School to 5th Ave. There’s lots of free parking and free trolley or carriage rides to all corners of the Arts District. For more information on all the FREE ArtWalk activities, visit www.scottsdalegalleries.com.

Super StereoPBR and Fervor Records Bring MTV Artists to the Rhythm Room April 14th

Local indie boutique label Fervor Records has been around the block in the music industry for 21+ years, championing local artists while working internationally in the film, television and advertising music world. In fact, you can catch a Fervor release airing somewhere 365 days a year.

In 2010, the Central Phoenix based company signed two new artists for a big launch in tandem with MTV, and on April 14 you can see the results live at the legendary Rhythm Room. Arizona’s own electro sensation Super Stereo and their labelmate hip hop rapper Tarik NuClothes (from Queens, NY) will be showcasing at the Pabst Blue Ribbon sponsored event with special guest host Beef Vegan from KWSS 106.7 FM’sThe Morning Infidelity” and the illustrious President Gator on the decks.

Super Stereo’s video for the catchy pop single “Life Passed Me By” has been #3 for over a week on the university-specific network MTVu, and a deeper album cut from their debut release This Is Futurepop will be featured on NBC’s hit hipster show Parks and Recreation this month.

The showcase and celebration is on a school night (Thursday), so the doors open at 7pm and the show will end just after 11pm. There is a modest cover charge of $5, and cans of PBR will be $1.50. Check out the showcasing artist MTV videos, and contact us if you’d like to join the party.
