Scottsdale’s Glass Act ArtWalk is back in session

The Glass Act ArtWalk blows into town once again, bringing brilliant glass art to the Scottsdale Arts District on Thurs., Apr. 12 from 7-9pm. The 4th annual event is hosted by the Scottsdale Gallery Association (SGA) in conjunction with the City of Scottsdale.

Glass Act ArtWalk

This one-of-a-kind event features beautiful artistry by some of Arizona’s finest glass artists. Dozens of fine art galleries will be open to the public, hosting receptions and artists of every style, with special glass art events to be found inside Marshall-LeKae, Occasions by Design!, and other fine galleries. Live glass art demonstrations can be found on both Main Street and Marshall Way featuring experts from the Arizona Glass Alliance, with individual presentations by Peggy Pettigrew Stewart, Laurie Nessel and Kimberly Calvert.

As always, there will be other delights throughout the Arts District. Live music will feature jazz saxophonist Mary Petrich, folky roots music from The Blue Goats, south-of-the-border sounds from Bossa Nossa (aka always-popular Zarco & Carmen Guerrero), the contemporary flute of Sherry Finzer & Radiant Sky, the soul sounds of Simon Crown and the smooth keyboard craftings of Grady Soine whose new CD – featuring a glass heart as its cover art – will be premiered at the event. Awesome prize giveaways and other special doings will also be found along the ArtWalk route.

The Scottsdale Arts District can be found just west of Scottsdale Road and Indian School Road along Main Street and on Marshall Way north of Indian School Road to Fifth Avenue. There are plenty of nearby free parking areas, and easy access to local hotels or famed Scottsdale eateries. ArtWalkers will have the advantage of hitching a ride on free Scottsdale Trolleys or aboard horse-drawn carriages between Main Street and Marshall Way.

Additional information and a calendar of individual gallery events is available via the Scottsdale Arts District website at www.scottsdalegalleries.com.

“Isn’t life strange?
A turn of the page,
a book without light,
unless with love we write.
To throw it away,
to lose just a day,
the quicksand of time…
you know it makes me want to cry, cry, cry…”
– by John Lodge from The Moody Blues Seventh Sojourn (Threshold)
